Gummy smile
Correction of the gingival display
The so-called gummy smile occurs in patients who show more upper gum when they smile .
The elevator muscle in the upper lip contracts during the smile and causes this condition.
This small complex is very easily remedied thanks to an injection of botulinum toxin on either side of the nose.
This injection temporarily relaxes (5 to 6 months on average) the elevator muscle of the upper lip and subsequently stops the gummy smile from occurring.
